Snyder, the most prominent and influential horticulturist and gardening educator in Minnesota's history, spent more than two decades in the horticulture department at the University of Minnesota, was the first director of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, wrote a newspaper column for many years, made regular radio appearances, and led garden tours to Europe and Australia.
