The Cubical City

New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1926. First edition. Hardcover. 426 pages. Hardcover, in good condition, bound in black cloth. Flawed but tolerable copy of the uncommon first printing. Exposure to moisture has stiffened the upper part of the book's second half and slightly curled the upper corner of its rear board, with a two-inch dampstain visible after page 250 or so, near the spine. The upper part of the spine, including the area with the gilt title, is a bit wrinked, though still quite legible. Aside from the moisture damage, the front endpapers are about two-thirds split along the hinge, with slight weakening to the book. Front board, lettered and decorated in gilt, is still in good shape, as (aside from the split) are the decorative blue and black endpapers. Item #864

The longtime New Yorker correspondent's only novel, which was reissued in 1974 by Southern Illinois University Press in its Lost American Fiction series edited by Matthew J. Bruccoli.
