Bound in green cloth; gilt lettering on the spine; white paper label, with green lettering and artwork, pasted to the front board. Book's endpapers have slight offsetting from the jacket's flaps; the frontispiece, formerly loose, has been neatly reinforced with archival tape; and the top page edges are dust-soiled. In other respects the book is in fine condition, with some pages unopened at the bottom edge. The jacket has minor soiling and a few small chips, including one at the head of the spine affecting the first part of the W in the word With. The jacket replicates the label artwork and promotes the author's books My Home in the Field of Honour and My Home in the Field of Mercy. Jacket enclosed in a clear, archival-quality, removable protective cover. Item #785

Huard's books on France during the war promoted the idea of "glorious service" by the French people in opposition to the German invaders. Frontispiece and ten other plates by the author's husband, Charles Huard, best known for his illustrations for a 1910 edition of the complete works of Balzac.
