Lace, Fans and Photographs
St. Paul: Minnesota Museum of Art, 1974. Paperback. 43 pages. 9 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches; 235 by 207 mm. Softcover, in fine condition, bound in black-and-white illustrated card covers, with a printed glassine jacket. Two-by-two-inch piece missing from the lower edge of the jacket's rear panel and very minor wear to the top edge. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs of fans and lace, accompanied by complementary photographs of other fine arts and nature. Photographs of items from the exhibition have brief descriptive notes. Tipped to the recto of the rear free endpaper is a modern, typed half-sheet labeled "Language of the Fan / Registered in Washington April 1, 1879" listing twenty messages, the first, for example, being "Carrying in right hand front of face" corresponding to "Follow Me."
