Originally published in 1927; a third edition appeared in 1960. Thirty animals are profiled, each accompanied by a full-page illustration by Jack Todd. According to a profile by the Center for Cowboy and Western Poetry, the author, born in Minnesota in 1878, was a trapper and Glacier National Park guide and wrote several books of poetry.
